Donald A. Schuster Greenhouse is a family-owned business that has been serving the community since 1964. They are open from mid-April through the end of June providing customers with bedding plants, geraniums, hanging baskets and the like. They open again September through October with pumpkins, gourds, baked goods and more. They are a wholesale provider to nurseries and other retailers and also sell retail to the public.
In the spring they have everything you need for your flower and vegetable garden. They can help you locate the “hard to find” hybrid tomato plants or your favorite heirloom varieties. They also have onion sets and peppers of all colors and carry the hottest peppers on the planet, the Jolokia, also known as the ghost pepper. Schuster’s carries a line of the most popular Proven Winners in 4” pots and has all the annual flowers from Alyssum to Zinnias. A large selection of beautiful hanging baskets is available at an affordable price. They make a great Mother’s Day gift!
Their small, but quaint gift shop is the place to go for all your outdoor and patio décor needs. They also have a line of top soils and mulches, manure, and peat moss to help with those tough flower beds. Their friendly and courteous sales staff will assist you in any way they can.
Go back in September and October to experience all the fun and flavors of fall. They carry pumpkins of every shape and size for your fall decorating as well as three different sizes of hay bales, cornstalks, Indian corn and gourds of all sizes. They have a fun maze for kids ages 2-92 along with weekend activities such as family hayrides through the scenic farmland. Don’t forget to bring your camera as there are lots of photo opportunities.
The fall offerings in the store include a variety of fall wall decorations, carving tools for your jack-o-lantern, miniature pumpkins and Indian corn. Satisfy your taste buds with our award-winning homemade apple and pumpkin pies, fudge and buckeyes. You’ll love the homemade salsa, apple butter, pumpkin rolls, caramel apples, cookies and chocolate covered pretzels. Every child will receive a treat bag when they visit the store.
Starting in October, weekly hayrides on Saturday and Sunday 12noon-5p. (Weather permitting) The second weekend in October they host a Family Fun Fest. Food, games, apple butter making, hit & miss, engine display and other various vendors will be on display. It is a great time for the whole family at a reasonable cost. Stop out and see! Their September hours are daily 9-6 and October 9-8.
