DAY 1
9:00am-10:30am Arrive at Don Moulds Plantation, a garden center and gift shop. Participate in a horticulture demonstration ranging from container gardening, to pruning, to Heavenly Hydrangeas!
10:30am-11:30am Take a walking tour of the Oberlin College Campus Gardens or tour the Adam Joseph Lewis Center, Oberlin College’s uniquely green Environmental Studies building.
11:30am-12:30pm Enjoy some time on your own to shop Downtown Oberlin at the many shops along Main Street.
12:30pm-1:30pm Enjoy lunch at the Garden Restaurant at the Oberlin Inn that overlooks the picturesque Tappan Square.
2:00pm-3:30am Tour Bonnie Brae Elk Farm. What began in 1886 as a horse training facility is now a bustling elk farm. Take a wagon ride to hand feed elk. Time your visit to enjoy the Farm Art Festival, Ohio Quilt Festival, Bugle Days, or Christmas on the Farm.
4:00pm-5:30pm Learn about the unique gardens at Days of Yore Herb and Flower Farm, a unique home & garden boutique located in a renovated “Turn of the Century Barn” surrounded by beautiful gardens.
6:00pm-7:30pm Dine overlooking a Lake Erie sunset at the Jackalope Lakeside Restaurant. Enjoy a spectacular view of the Lorain Lighthouse.
8pm-? Before retiring for the evening, enjoy a sampling of Lake Erie wine at any one of our six area wineries or take in a traveling Broadway production at the Stocker Arts Center.
DAY 2
8:00am-8:30am Start off your day with breakfast at your hotel.
9:00am-10:30am Schoepfle Garden, begin the tour with a video about Otto Schoepfle, the founder of the garden. Then enjoy a guided tour through the garden that includes formal and shade gardens, giant topiaries, and perennials. Don’t forget to stop at the Nature Nook Gift Shop.
11:00am-12:30pm Take a shuttle boat to tour the beautiful Lorain Lighthouse. Learn the history of the lighthouse as you view the ongoing restoration process (date, time, and weather permitting).
12:30pm-2:00pm Tour the spectacular, restored Lakeview Park and Rose Garden in Lorain. Lunch at Rose Café while enjoying stunning views of Lake Erie and the Lorain Lighthouse.
2:30pm-4:00pm Shop at Jamie’s Flea Market (Wed or Sat), a year round market with over 200 booths featuring crafts, plants, collectibles, antiques, jewelry and much more!
4:30pm-6:00pm Before departing Lorain County, stop at Miller’s Apple Hill for some last minute snacks for the ride home or visit Grobe Fruit Farm or Spiegelberg Orchards for some fresh fruits and vegetables.
