The featured presentation, Sergei Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf", choreographed by Nancy Brenstuhl after Matthew Hart, showcases Ohio Dance Theater Youth Ballet members as colorful animals and a mischievous Peter, depicting the classic tale through a family-friendly dance performance. Composed in 1936, "Peter and the Wolf" has become Prokoviev's best-known work performed by almost every ensemble. The score, used as an instructional tool to help children learn about the different instruments of the orchestra has delighting audiences of all ages for generations.

Also on the bill will be "Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra" brough to life through Ohio Dance Theatre's Artistic Director Denise Gula's stunning choreograph, a classical work set to the beautiful music of English composer Benjamin Britten. Although Britten had no children of his own, he was fond of them and wrote this piece with them in mind. Based on a theme from Purcell's Abdelazer (The Moor's Revenge), it begins and ends with an overview of the whole orchestra, interspersed with demonstrations of the capabilities of each instrument.

The performances which are free and open to the public, are sponsored in part by the Oberlin City Chamber of Commerce and Oberlin College. Ohio Dance Theatre receives ongoing operational support from The Nord Family Foundation and The Community Foundation of Lorain County.
