7/23/09 -- The Western Basin Sportfishing Association (WBSA) announced plans for the inaugural Starcraft Marine, Crown Battery Gator Classic Pro Am to be held September 12th and 13th out of Lorain OH.

“Building off of the success we have had with the LEWT and from listening to our anglers we have decided to venture into a Pro Am tournament with the Gator” said WBSA President Marc Hudson. “Amateurs will get randomly paired up each day with a different pro and get a great chance to learn while still competing for the largest 2 day weight in their division. The Pros supply the boat and all the equipment so nothing needs to be provided by the amateur participants.”

Payback on the amateur side will be at 100% with a $100 entry fee while the Pro side will be 90% payback with a $500 entry fee. First place on the pro side will pay $10,000 in a 40 boat field. Payouts will be adjusted based on the number of participants. Participants signing up with a counter part for the other division will get priority entry status. Complete rules can be found on the WBSA website www.wbsa.us/gator

“We have been working on this for a while to pull all the pieces together” added LEWT Tournament Director Matt Davis. “We are excited to be able to offer a great payout with a very reasonable entry fee. We have heard from a lot of anglers that this is exactly what they would like to see.”

Entries are currently being accepted for both divisions and boat numbers will be assigned to Pros in the order of entry received and upon pairing with an Amateur angler.
