Nine Holes in the Barn Door Square at Miller Orchards

Description

The quilt barn square is located at Miller Orchards on Vermilion Rd. This quilt is made from color variations of a nine patch Jacob’s Ladder pattern. Some of these patterns were intentionally imperfect. Quilters felt that a perfect quilt was an affront to the almighty and a sign of sinful pride. Therefore, a block or blocks were made with a piece was misplaced on purpose that was commonly called a “humility” block. It was painted by the Homegrowers 4-H Club and installed by First Energy.
