The Lake Shore Railway Association Inc., (LSRA) an Ohio 501(C)-3 non-profit corporation, was formed in 1979, to promote the educational & historical aspects of railroading in Lorain County, through the preservation and restoration of the Lorain & West Virginia Railway (L&WV). Since 1979, LSRA has raised enough capital to purchase approximately 20 miles of the former L&WV, rehabilitate the southern 6.2 miles, and operate seasonally, utilizing a locomotive and coaches from the 1950’s. Visitors experience the sights, sounds, and smells of this historical form of transportation, which was so important to the development of this country.
