The Dog Days of Summer in Lorain County

Lorain County is going to the dogs! Who wants to leave man’s best friend home when they go on vacation? When you visit us, you don’t have to! In fact, Lorain County has summer events specifically designed for your dog to join and plenty of spaces where they are welcome.

The first step is booking a room in one of the area pet-friendly hotels. Pets stay free at the Red Roof Inn and Motel 6, and for a small fee at Oberlin InnDays Inn, Quality Inn, and Ramada Elyria.

We also have several dog friendly campgrounds, including American Wilderness, Clar-Mar Lakes, Findley State Park, and Rustic Lakes.

Some of North Central Ohio’s most beautiful trails are dog friendly and would make the perfect place to take your four legged friend out for some fresh air and exercise (as long as they’re on a leash 6 feet or shorter!). We also have a few events made just for dogs and their humans to enjoy! Here are a few of our recommendations:

Amherst Beaver Creek Reservation: 913 North Lake Street Amherst, Ohio 44001

This is a 1.5 mile asphalt trail that will take you and Fido past marshes, pine forests, and though the Beaver Creek Valley.

Dogs are welcomed at Lakewood Beach Park, Sheffield Lake Community Park, West Shore Park, Shell Cove Park, and Miller Road Park.
