The fifth annual Black River Kayak-A-Thon will be held on June 27th, 2015. This year’s event will include competitive races as well as a casual float for those who want to take their time and view the restoration projects. Registration for the races and the casual float will open at 8:00AM at the Black River Wharf. This event is being held to encourage recreation on the Black River, to celebrate the restoration efforts that are underway along the river, and to highlight water quality efforts that are improving the water quality of the Black River. Representatives from the project team will be on hand to provide you with more information about the Black River restoration effort and to answer any questions you may have.
Competitive races will launch from the Black River Wharf and the Casual Float from French Creek Put-in. The casual float offers opportunities to see herons, gulls, ducks, raptors, and many water birds. The Kayak-A-Thon is being held the same weekend as the International Festival.
